Amnesty International accuses US government of trying to 'silence and intimidate' rights groups and stop criticism of Israeli policy

A number of human rights organisations have hit back at threats by the Trump administration to have them branded antisemitic due to their reporting on abuses by Israel.

Amnesty International said the US government was attempting to "silence and intimidate international human rights organisations", following a report in Politico that officials were on the verge of applying the antisemitic label to several organisations - including Amnesty, Oxfam and Human Rights Watch - and enouraging governments not to work with them. Israeli NGOs demand government allow UN rights monitors Read More »

According to a congressional aide with contacts inside the US State Department, the move was primarily being pushed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a means of shoring up the pro-Israel and evangelical Republican base ahead of the elections.

The report also suggested that Pompeo could be eyeing a future presidential run himself and that the move was part of the process of beginning to build a coalition of support.

Any declaration is likely to stem from the office of Elan Carr, the US special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, and will point to the organisations' perceived support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign and press statements criticising Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Amnesty International USA said the government was "spreading misinformation and working to undermine those who are working to protect human rights". 'Deeply concerned'

The statement continued: “We advocate for the release of Jewish prisoners of conscience, condemn acts of terrorism against Jewish communities, and call on governments to condemn neo-Nazi and other hate groups across the US and throughout the world.

'[The US government] is spreading misinformation and working to undermine those who are working to protect human rights'

- Amnesty International

"We are deeply concerned that conflating antisemitism with legitimate criticism of Israeli government policy is detrimental not only to ending serious crimes under international law, but also to efforts to address and end antisemitism - and it may encourage other countries to make such baseless claims."

In separate statements, Oxfam said the accusations were "false, baseless, and offensive" while Human Rights Watch said "criticising government policy is not the same as attacking a specific group of people".

According to the sources speaking to Politico, a number of career State Department employees have expressed alarm at the proposals.

Department lawyers have warned that the proposals could lead to lawsuits and lack a legal administrative basis.

Since coming into office in 2016, Donald Trump's administration has been avowedly pro-Israel and has enacted a number of moves to appease Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing government, including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and brokering a normalisation deal with the UAE and Bahrain.

Well, there we are -- this administration's real priority. AI, HRI et al are too lefty-liberal but they are highly respected and I hate to see this BS happen just as these orgs are finally getting real on the main terror problem worldwide -- Israel.

It's really atrocious Pompy would say that and shows what a mundane buffoon and poseur he is this whole time. (Big surprise, right?) As shown in the must-see master documentary DEFAMATION

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJo7LhSPJaY

jooz are trying to forcibly equate the "anti-semitism" fraud with quite valid anti-Zionism in order to shut people up about Israel's crimes. You oppose the Palestinian genocide and Israeli apartheid, you're ANAZIWHOWANTSTOKILLSIXMILLIONJEWS! For Prexy Jr to get with this SICK agenda is despicable. For Trompy to go along with it is unspeakable!

I ask you people, Who can read these words without feeling revolted: According to a congressional aide with contacts inside the US State Department, the move was primarily being pushed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a means of shoring up the pro-Israel and evangelical Republican base ahead of the elections.

The report also suggested that Pompeo could be eyeing a future presidential run himself and that the move was part of the process of beginning to build a coalition of support.

Hey, get this -- Oxfam was already kowtowing to da jooz!

finally getting real on the main terror problem worldwide -- Israel.

Indeed, the "dancing Israelis" who were picked up in New Jersey on 9-11-2001 are a prime example of this. The "dancing" indicated foreknowledge of the events of the day.

They refused to take lie tests. When they finally agreed, they all failed miserably.

But you must also realize that Arab terrorism has also been in vogue since the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 which was downed by a bomb over Lockerbie, Scotland, ;)

You're just cuing me, I hope, to point out that we had NO problems with any Arabs and gotalong FINE with them UNTIL WE GOT JEWED.

We're the country lucky enuff to have an ocean on each side. Our ancestors came here to escape Eurasian madness. Kike money power has dragged us back there -- the kikes bribe the politicians and the sheeple follow wherever they lead.

Voilà, Lockerbie. Voilà, Beirut barracks bombings. Voilà, 9/11.

That's exactly what they accuse us of to deflect attention from their own. Our apartheid* was segregation and slavery and their hate propaganda about it goes on 24/7/366 totally blighting American life, while they persecute people who point out their own.

Dijew know Israel's apartheid is not only between jews and Arabs, but between Ashcanazim and Sephardim? Classic book -- another courageous author who died young:

Preview with w/Auto Link often fails for me, too, Lod. Especially if the link is long. Long links are often rendered wrong; they end up with spaces in 'em.

Ping was asked about and he has commented on this before, but I don't recall what his answer was. In any case, it doesn't always work, and things aren't always fine. As an example, here's a link to a a page on digital filter design. When posted using Preview w/Auto Link, the link has a space in it, and it doesn't work. It gets you to the MathWorks website, but not to the page on digital filter design.

Of course your post auto-linked to mathworks even if the exact page you wanted didn't appear (which is above my pay grade), but you do have the snap to select autolink in the first place, some don't.

For example: www.bfresljm.com will link, to nothing.

As I've said before, it was a clear and brazen continuation of the pseudo-psychiatric torture-murder of dissidents in the USSR.

First I'm exulting that some actual practicing lawyer has taken on the case of a man who fought off an assailant (of his wife) at a stadium after a big game and called him a nigger.

Next I'm marveling at how he doesn't go into hiding after the suit or go back to divorce work etc. -- and even becomes a delightful, outspoken fantastic write wing personage.

For YEARS I'm just loving how this has to be a free country after all (to whatever extent) because a priest in the sacred law cult has gone human, dubbed himself Attorney To The Damned, is narrating an animated 'Fable of the Ducks and the Hens', defending the Aryan Nations, writing massively heretical columns, and having an absolute blast at it -- without even gettng his law license revoked -- so far as I knew.

Then it happens. The kikenvermin bribe the hero's handyman to steal his hidden silver and stage a fake plot in which Steele supposedly planned to kill his wife. Then it's the worst horror stories possible. The world's most tragic political prisoner is pilloried in the National Enquirer as a "RACIST", bla bla.

Then the end too shocking to contemplate -- and then he's down the memory hole.

That's what's happening. Long URL's are wrapped onto 2 or more lines, and when the post is sent in, the browsers are inserting spaces or carriage returns at the wrap locations.

For long URL's you should be able to, at least on desktop or laptop systems, expand the text box horizontally. That should prevent spaces from being inserted into the URLs and breaking them.

I think though it needs to be done not just on preview but when final posting.
