Generally speaking, I believe it’s safe to say that most Americans do not like to be locked down or told who they can eat with or where they can or cannot go. We found that out during the first round of lockdowns earlier this year when the mainstream media attempted to scare us all into submission. Unfortunately, it’s happening again and in some states — like Michigan — Democratic leaders are exercising every possible iota of power in order to shut down economies and keep us all inside our homes for indefinite periods at a time.
Over the weekend, Trump-hating Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered a new, three-week “epidemic order,” which means harsh new restrictions for the state that includes schools and businesses.
But at least one state legislator has finally determined that Whitmer crossed the line this time. Michigan House Representative Matt Maddock, a Republican, has banded with some of his colleagues in calling for impeachment hearings against Whitmer to begin immediately, following her gross use of power during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Today, myself and a growing list of Michigan Legislators have decided that @GovWhitmer has crossed the line and will be calling for #ImpeachWhitmer hearings. The list of violations is long and the call is overdue,” Maddock tweeted, according to WZZM13.

Maddock also pointed to several of his colleagues who feel the same way, including Daire Rendon, Beau LaFave, Ryan Berman, Shane Hernandez, Dan Lauwers, and Lana Theis.
In a Facebook post, Maddock listed a number of reasons why he believes Whitmer should be impeached, including accusing the governor of “weaponizing” contract-tracing programs to assist Democratic candidates in the 2020 election.
“Ignored court orders. Violated our Constitutional rights. Completely ignored due process and the legislature. Weaponized contract tracing databases to aid democrat campaigns. Using our kids as political pawns and denied special needs students who depend on the services that occur during in-person classes. Caused the unnecessary death of thousands of our vulnerable elderly who died alone and scared in nursing homes. I’ve listed the first things that come to my mind. What did I miss?” Maddock wrote.
Maddock expressed concern that small businesses, to include restaurants, will be “dead by the end of the year” under Whitmer’s upcoming, three-week lockdown. In no uncertain terms, Maddock claimed that Whitmer’s impeachment was “long overdue.”
It would behoove Whitmer to listen to the concerns of the state legislature and residents of Michigan, as the Michigan House has the sole power to impeach civil officials, including the governor. According to post-2020 election data, Ballotpedia indicates that the Michigan House and Senate are both controlled by the Republican party.
