Hello folks - I'm in a running argument with the "progressives" at Daily Kos about illegal immigration. The bleeding hearts over there are running down the Minutemen. I told them that they were being snotty and didn't have any real experience about what these ranchers and farmers who live on the border were going through (in terms of trespassing, property invasion, dead livestock, vandalism, attacks, etc). I was challenged to put up or shut up in documenting my statements - I could dig through the research but work is busy so I was wondering if any good 4'ers out there could post me some good websites/links. Also, any good stuff about MECHA and Atzlan. I'm gonna educate those Kossacks if it kills them :)

Oh, and anything about what a crook Vincente Fox is. He actually has supporters over there! THANKS!

Tell them to look at any poll available to them on the issue.

Then ask them if the warm fuzzy feeling they seem to get from political suicide is worth having Newt or Condi as President for 8 more years.

Suggest they give up on the warm fuzzies for a moment and instead try giving the American people what they want.

that's a real problem, Triple Dot. Yeah Bush and his people suck, but the Dems suck too. That's the message they don't get - that many, if not, most, of the Dem positions are very unpopular with the American people. I know these folks are fantasizing that once they get rid of Bush, they'll start winning elections with Hilary, etc, but that's not gonna happen. The people are not disavowing conservatism - they're disavowing crooks and liars.

Eh, these people are hopeless, Zip. Too liberal to have any sense. I posted these sites, and the argument is "well we can't believe them - they're biased"! Well, of course, they're biased, ya damn fools, because they actually EXPERIENCE the situation every day!!! It's one thing to sit in the comfort of your San Francisco loft and rain scorn on the Minutemen, because YOU DON'T EXPERIENCE IT. It's another thing to be a rancher or farmer, or even just an ordinary citizen in these border communities and see what happens every damn day. It's infuriating.

You could argue that it is much harder to get a job in Mexico than for them to get one here.

Keep in mind.. that there are PAID posters on DK just like there were on FR.. I've gone around with them as well.. I brought up something to do with illegal drugs like meth.. of course most is coming from Mexico now and meth labs operated by illegals in this country .. I got some nonsense in reply . The other issue I bought up is the disease issue.. of course when I said something about legals having to have health checks.. they then said well the rich can afford to bring legals in.. it's total nonsense.. Just like FR2.

he he - that's what I told them - that they were just like the Bushites in terms of sticking to a rigid ideology. It's so frustrating - people used to have some sense but now so many people seem to have bought into one stupid ideology or another and they can't just examine the facts of a particular issue and come to an independent decision. Oh well, I guess my purpose over there is just to shake them up a bit. At least I don't get zotted.

That's very true - it's totally a one way street for Mexico. If we tried to sneak across their border, they'd kill us.

give them this...

Believe it or not, get them to listen to Newt Gingrich - from a tactical standpoint - since he orchestrated the 1994 Republican Revolution in the House -- and you can say "this is a winner! Just look at the polls! You CAN THROW THEM OUT -- their own guy is telling you how to do it!"

Use this: The Logistics of Backlash as a primer.

Tell them they can WIN if they just LISTEN to the people. Check the polls.
