The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
When I lived in my sister's attic flat in Chicago, she had this M1 Garand. She told me there was something wrong with it but she couldn't figure out what it was.
I knew these guys out in the suburbs who were into guns. I told her I would take it out there so they could look at it. She didn't have a box to put it in so I wrapped it in a blanket.
I was walking out to my pick up and a cop pulled up. He said, "What do you have in the blanket?"
I said, "Curtain rods. You should know better than even ask."
What could he say? I came right back with an answer. LOL
It turned out to be a parts gun. They told her go to Lake County gun show and find who has parts and swap him for one that fits properly. No idea if she ever did that.
I asked her once if she wanted to buy a rifle. She said yes. So I grab a box from storage locker and drive down there. I had the Ruger 10-22 in the box. When she saw it she ran back in the bar and locked me out. What in hell did she think I was going to sell her, the .308 battle rifle? That was too much rifle for her. :-/
