To: Horse (#0) I spent a week in Almería 20 years ago, and it was a beautiful place (as far as cities go). The only immigrant I met was a restaurant owner from Argentina. Must be going downhill fast. Too close to Africa. There was a woman who looked like she could have been my sister begging money in front of the 500 year old church next to the hotel. Uncanny resemblance. ALL the women were slender -- not a fattie to be found anywhere. That was pleasant. Their accent was hard to understand. But almost everyone was friendly, and happily endured my 15% Tex/Mex/Arizona Spanish. You have to ask for butter; they serve only olive oil. It's a big industry there, and it's good.
