Based on a true story, a group of allied escape artist type prisoners of war are all put in an 'escape proof' camp. Their leader decides to try to take out several hundred all at once. The first half of the film is played for comedy as the prisoners mostly outwit their jailers to dig the escape tunnel. The second half is high adventure as they use boats and trains and planes to get out of occupied Europe.
1) The camp was in Poland no where near France or Switzerland.
2) The tunnels were built by Americans and British but most of the Americans but were transferred out before March 24, 1944.
3) The camp was liberated by the Soviets early in 1945.
4) The Soviets did capture 20,000 American soldiers in Germany but never released them.
5) One million German soldiers were killed in brutal camps that were open fields with no shelter from rain and snow. They were denied adequate food. Eisenhower did that to soldiers he captured in France and Germany.
6) 50 men were executed at Hitler's orders.
7)3 escaped but none were English or American. They were 2 Norwegians and a Dutchman. The Dutchman was a pilot and flew in the RAF at D-Day.
8) The Germans had been disarmed after WW I. The Rothschilds owned the Bank of England until WW II was over. In 1935-36 the Rothschild owned B of E loaned Hitler 350 million pounds ($1.75 billion dollars) so he could buy weapons from Vickers and pay (British) Imperial chemicals to re-organize Farben.
9) The German military tried to surrender in March of 1939. They sent men to London in March of 1939 offering to arrest Hitler if they could get peace. The Japanese Emperor had tried to surrender to FDR in 1936. The Rothschilds said No. The Allies killed 58 million people after the other side had made legitimate offers of surrender.
