NY Gov abruptly reverses stance on COVID-19 lockdowns

By Ryan Ledendecker

January 11, 2021

Just when America thought the political world couldn’t possibly get any more confusing and ridiculous, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo proved us all wrong with a stunning announcement this week concerning the state of the COVID-19 crisis in his state.

According to Breitbart, with just nine days left of President Donald Trump’s term in the White House, the New York governor announced that he’s quitting his nearly year-long pro-lockdown crusade, writing in a tweet that the “cost is too high” to keep businesses in his state closed, even warning that many might never open again as a result.

With New York citizens experiencing some of the strictest lockdown measures in the midst of the pandemic, Cuomo’s sudden change of heart, unsurprisingly, took many by surprise.

“We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass,” Cuomo tweeted. “The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely.”

Wasn't this predictable once the election was over?

One minute we cannot the next minute we can. For those of us who are old enough, remember the gas bull shit in the early 70's???One day gas, next day no gas.

That was more like late 70s. Gas prices spiked too, from about 75 cents to over $1 a gallon.

There was even 10 gallon limit too.

I can recall travelling in Oklahoma and they had gas wars going for 19 cents a gallon. ;)

That was more like late 70s.

The first one was in '73 (Arab oil embargo, Israel), the second was in '79 (don't remember why, Iran maybe?). The '79 was the one that sent gas over a buk, I think.

And just like that. Biden is about to be sworn in and the economy will be saved with a stimulus and an end to the lockdowns. Imagine it, it is as if the whole thing was political and a plot to get rid of an unpopular president. Wow.

...and an end to the lockdowns.

Not in my county. I guess we're going into "Code Red" tomorrow at midnight or something, whatever that means.

Code red, indeed. Red as in Commie China.

It's no wonder everybody being so nutted-up. If they could only see what I've seen...

On January 20th Biden will be in office. The 22nd, the big 2k stimulus is going to be rolled out. Then probably around the 25th or so, you’re going to see things opening back up. In my state which had been locked down since March of last year, the governor started rolling back the layers of bullshit so that bars and stores could serve people food and alcohol again. When he rolled back the rules, I knew I was right months ago when I said that if Biden wins, all this covid nonsense is going to go away. It is going to go away, I guarantee it.

sounds like you signed your name at the cross roads, learned to bend a string, takes an ear to hear the word, of those blues that you sing.

I wouldn't exactly characterize my life as such. I just tried to follow in my Dad's (d. 1976) footsteps in fighting the commies.

In hindsight, I should've been fighting the company that I contracted with.

Was that a poem or something?

(Edit) Search didn't help much. Has something to do with music (bending a string), my mind is wandering way back, maybe cartoons? Crows?

your post #7 put a blues riff in my mind so I figured I'd string a few words together.
