Who Are the 10 Republicans Who Voted for Trump's Impeachment?
Yesterday, the majority of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
This was the second impeachment President Trump has faced.
The first one occurred in December 2019 when Trump was impeached for the abuse of power and the obstruction of Congress.
In February 2020, President Trump was cleared of these charges by Senate.
This time, the indictment cites an incitement of insurrection as a relevant article of impeachment.
President Trump is held guilty for encouraging the U.S. Capitol storming a week before the impeachment.
However, the final decision is up to the U.S. Senate. Given the fact that two-thirds of the Senate needs to support the charges, it is highly unlikely that a sufficient number of Republican Senators will support their Democrat colleagues in the aim to oust President Trump and prevent him from holding public office in the future.
Republicans who went AWOL
Yet, 10 Republican House members decided to support Trumps impeachment.
Together with Democrat Representatives, they formed the greatest majority any impeachment of the U.S. president has received so far.
