That the American people know about
Mike Pence contributed to the current scenario by reading the Electoral College votes from States with disputed vote totals. If he had not read those totals, the vote for President would have been thrown into the House of Representatives where each State would get one vote each. There were 27 States with Republican Governors and 23 Democrat. That would have given Trump the win. There is precedent for this. In the election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson refused to read the Electoral College votes from Georgia. This gave him the win over Aaron Burr.
