It's funny, I lived in a neighborhood where kids stole bicycles before graduating to cars, trucks, farm equipment, class A pharmaceuticals, and whatever else wasn't nailed down. It was a fact that if one's bike was ripped off and he/she didn't recover it they were the laughing stock of the "hood" !
I also recall the baddest white boy in my neighborhood (went to prison at 15) had taken my coat and ran it up the flagpole while I was in the gym playing basketball. When I discovered who had been so patriotic I immediately went home and got my dad's pistol. When I returned, luckily for him and me he was gone. That's just one small example of shit in everyday life among some of us. Would I have shot the guy ? You betcha !
Taking shit from bullies just leads to more of the same.

I lived in a tough neighborhood in Chicago. I learned real quick how to take care of myself. I was bullied in High School too. And no one was on my side except a couple of upperclassmen. But they were of no help during everyday activities. The only relief I got was when I played baseball. But we only won one game all season and got the coach fired. :-/
