Esso's favorite target. I'm leaving Redbush to BTP.

What a fucked up deal. I think I'm going to invest all my assets in the stock tickers SNAFU and FUBAR. They've been ignored since WWII, but I'm seeing a huge comeback in the near future.

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings. Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything. No navigator to find my way home, unladened, empty and turned to stone.

Classic ~ lemme know when to jump in on this no-brainer.

My OM, ex WWII, Philippines/EW1 Magnavox/Raytheon (d.1976) had a saying:

"Frank, you can wish in one hand and shit in the other. See which one gets full first."

I have no idea why Dad used to call me Frank/Frankovich, but I'm guessing PTSD was involved.

I think that saying has been around a lot since the depression as my father would say it on occasion. Pretty soon we are going to be wishing and shitting at the same time once this communist nightmare really gets rolling.

No doubt, both my folks were children of the depression. Dad never talked much, but after he was gone, Mom told me some stories.

Maybe that's why I'm such a tight-ass now. I don't buy shit for myself unless I'm forced to.

children of the depression

My Mom told me hat during the depression at Christmas time they all got coal in their stockings since the family had no money.

Their father did shoe repairs in the basement to save money from going to the cobbler for shoe repairs. ;)

That would've been a hot commodity back in the day. most homes were coal fired. I still find clinkers on my property from time to time. I built my joint in the old International Harvester community.

When it was set up around the factory, there was no indoor plumbing. Most of the remaining bungalows, had a simple kitchens and bathrooms grafted onto the alley (back) side. The house next door is a good example of that.

My maternal grandfather and grandmother were dry cleaners. Grandma was a seamstress and did a lot of work for the burlesque gals downtown. I still have a bunch of the promotional beeswax zipper sticks that grandpa had made. Still good as ever. Grandpa used to make his pickups and deliveries in a Harvester Travelall, or something like that. Made in FW.

Sanitary Dry Cleaners ended up being Rock's Auto Shop or something, the guy that bought it paid Mom for the property with a $5,000 bill. No shit.

Indiana Institute of Technology absorbed that years ago. A long time ago.

What a memory you brought back.
