Video footage from a La Mesa, California school board meeting is generating outrage from parents who learned that a school board member stated a potential school reopening is “what slavery is,” and is a “very white supremacist ideology.” The board member also demanded that her colleagues check their “privilege.”

Charda Bell-Fontenot, the Vice President of the La Mesa-Spring Valley Schools board, appeared ignorant of the fact that her remarks would become public record, claiming, “If our meetings were actually recorded for the public, we would know that.”

Bell-Fontenot, who refused to show her face on-screen, stated, “So how are we forcing people, that seems like a very white supremacist ideology to force people to comply, you know, or conform, without thinking about all of their intersecting factors and barriers that exist for all families … just letting you know, you’re thinking about one type of family when you’re speaking right now. Just letting you know. Privilege. Check it, you guys.

La Mesa, CA trustee Bell-Fontenot goes off on fellow board members, one of which is Hispanic, saying returning to in-person learning is “a very white supremacist ideology,” telling them to “[check] their privilege,” and that mandating in-person instruction is “slavery.” 1/5

After telling other board members that they “don’t know what they are talking about,” the superintendent stands up for them. She suggests this is racist.

The board vice president added, “So I don’t wanna be a part of forcing anybody to do anything they don’t wanna do, that’s what slavery is, I’m not gonna be a part of it.”

When the superintendent asked her to stop berating other board members, Bell-Fontenot accused him of “disrespecting” her, and rebuffed a request from another colleague to continue the argument in private by shouting, “Racism doesn’t need to be private, Becky.”

Be nice now...

Open schools here in the hills are indeed a white supremacy sin.

We have no aspiring scholars of color, that is evil.

I think these people have spun themselves into a gravity defying mental condition that has lifted them off of the fucking planet earth after first conditioning their rectum to accept the insertion of their brainless head.

Now, about the slavery issue. I have to agree with the board vice president with respect of HAVING TO PAY the taxes that support wretches like her and even the schools that fail to educate anyone these days. At least before all of the political correctness adulteration of the system at least white kids could get an education.

I lived in La Mesa, California for 20 years but that was 30 years ago. At that time it was a fairly conservative area made up of middle class Californians and their families. They started busing Mexican kids in from San Ysidro (border area) that brought guns to school (elementary school) and my daughter was afraid to go to school and afraid to inform on these munchkin gang bangers. I was happier leaving California than I was when I moved there from Indiana.
