Longtime Phoenix, Arizona news reporter and anchor Kari Lake decided to call it quits after nearly 30 years in the business.
In a video released online Monday, Lake told fans what drove her to make the decision.
“Sadly, journalism has changed a lot since I first stepped into a newsroom, and I’ll be honest, I don’t like the direction it’s going. The media needs more balance in coverage and a wider range of viewpoints represented in every newsroom at every level and in each position.”
Lake continued to say she is no longer proud to be a member of the media.

Longtime Phoenix, Arizona news reporter and anchor Kari Lake decided to call it quits after nearly 30 years in the business.
In a video released online Monday, Lake told fans what drove her to make the decision.
“Sadly, journalism has changed a lot since I first stepped into a newsroom, and I’ll be honest, I don’t like the direction it’s going. The media needs more balance in coverage and a wider range of viewpoints represented in every newsroom at every level and in each position.”
Lake continued to say she is no longer proud to be a member of the media.
At times, she would find herself reading news that wasn’t totally truthful in her opinion.
“I began to feel that I was contributing to the fear and division in this country by continuing on in this profession. It’s been a serious struggle for me and I no longer want to do this job anymore.”

After announcing she is leaving Fox 10 after 29 years, Lake vowed to provide 100 percent truthful information going forward.
“I know God has my back and will guide me to work that aligns with my values,” she stated.
Speaking with the Arizona Daily Independent, Lake revealed, “I have been over the thrill of ‘being on tv’ for a long, long time, so I won’t miss the ‘facetime’ on TV. My family understands why I am leaving. My kids are learning a lesson in putting your principles above fame and fortune. Working for money is not rewarding, doing meaningful work is the greatest reward.”
Liberal cancel culture is one aspect contributing to Lake’s departure.
Last year, she was criticized for simply interviewing President Donald Trump as well as for having social media accounts on Parler and Gab.
“I think in a way, the nastiness toward me is meant to scare other journalists who are open-minded and considerate of all points-of-view to snap back into line or they, too, will be ‘cancelled’ and their reputation attacked,” Lake said in reference to her haters.
The coronavirus pandemic made the longtime news anchor realize how bad media has really become.
“It really got difficult for me when Covid hit,” she admitted. “I felt the stories I was reading were not fully truthful. The cancel mob’s insistence that certain Covid- related stories not be told or even whispered, while others were told over-and-over made me feel as if I was not giving a balanced view of the situation to viewers.”
“I became a journalist to be helpful, not harmful, but some of the stories I was reading likely contributing to the fear and division—and I couldn’t do that anymore. I prayed a lot for guidance—asking God to lead me in the right direction.”
If only more media personalities had the guts and moral compass to do what Kari Lake did.
