China can take Taiwan any day they choose, at a cost.

Military action by the US would be useless and foolish.

However, should China make such a move, the US would instantly cut off all exports from China to the US. China must export to survive and over 20 per cent of all their exports are TO THE US.

China CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT EXPORTING.
