Volcanic ash was spotted over Lake Michigan. Mt Pinatubo is on an watch list for being likely to erupt. This will ruin crops. It has in the past. It caused the Big Freeze of 1709 in France which froze the top 40 inches of the soil and spiked food prices 650% higher.
I'm not seeing global ash fall anywhere near levels that would harm one's crops, even if it was enough to global temps a half degree or whatever. That's just silly.
Not silly. In 1709 three volcanoes erupted in Europe causing the Big Freeze which froze the top 40 inches of the soil in France spiking food prices 600% higher. That was during the Maunder Minimum. During the Dalton Minimum there was one gigantic volcanic eruption in 1815 in Indonesia that cause "1816 Year without a summer." Google that one if you think it is silly. We have 7 billion more people now than then so billions would die.
I guess I'm thinking the expectation being one's crops being thoroughly covered with a half inch of ash every day rather than massive temperature drops affecting weather. If that's the issue, then okay.
