I'm too young to know what y'all are talking about, but I'll add this as an aside:
Recently I've read more than once that only 8% of Americans have no "health coverage", and by that I know the author means medical expense insurance.
Is the number of medical-uninsured people really that low? Obamacare spectacularly priced me out of the market; the minimum "brass" plan for me and StraitWoman would cost over $14,000/year in premiums, and it would have a $14,000 annual deductible. Then it would pay only a paltry percentage -- 50-70% of most type expenses -- and/or in many cases with a capacious co-pay. That's $28,000/year before it even kicks in, and even then then the kick ain't nothin' to shoot the mule over.
There have to be more people like me -- too rich to get insurance for free, and too poor to afford to buy it. ???

That's the plan, man ! Uncle Sambo has it all figured out.
The solution is to eat right and rely upon the good graces of God and don't get sick. The best insurance is to trust God all the way and stop fretting over the small shit (not that 14k/yr is small shit).
Purchasing insurance is just another way of telling the ALMIGHTY creator of all things that you don't trust Him, but you trust the fuck heads that have every intention of killing you !
The thing about faith is that you have to first employ it to find out if it works. It does, I tried it.

I know you're not big on taxes, I'm not allowed that latitude. I do the best that I can to keep my AGI ~$20,000/yr. It's weird, state always takes more than the fed.

I'd bet that I have heard that song (The Unforgiven) a thousand times and never knew the lyrics. I guess I didn't pay attention until this morning, and I actually wanted to cry but it seems I've run out of tears. Maybe it's because I've become a dried out old prune or maybe I've cried enough already.
I remembered that you had posted the song above (Nothing Else Matters) awhile ago and it played right after The Unforgiven (on youtube), and I had to recommit to fight against the self serving cocksuckers that have taken it upon themselves to be the deciders and destroyers of everyone else's life choices. I think, if anything I have always known this but more in a subconscious way that made me a rebel that focused my angst on the people forcing their guidelines down everyone's throat without focusing my attention enough on the issues of hate that the self glorifying assholes project onto us through assorted avenues of education and propaganda.
Next thing you know you're doing push-ups in fatigues, going home for 30 days possibly to enjoy your last moments with friends and family before shipping out to some remote shit hole where bullets fly and bombs burst in the air and you'll not get a good night's sleep for a year or maybe ever. What the fuck is wrong with us ? In the Bible it speaks of man's heart waxing cold, and I truly believe we've reached that point.
Deep down I hate these elitist death merchants and what they do to a beautiful world and its people just to make a buck at someone else's expense which it seems is never enough. I'm not opposed to war when it's absolutely unavoidable but we all know that's generally not the case. And at some point in a man's life he should be set free from the ever encroaching perpetually pilfering system created by the ancestors of the current pussies that inherited it.
