We don't have any indication of what happened in the cockpit of Payton's plane as there are no voice recorders and such in lear jets. I watch these airline catastrophes every now and then and don't recall any case like what you describe.

Maybe I'm getting the 2 flights mixt up. 7:06 in your video at top = the pilot of the fighter jet takes a closer look at the liner's passenger area, sees passengers but they're showing no reaction to the other aircraft.
