One of the best fantasy books to come out in years! War of the Misread Augury is a book that is hard to classify(and to put down). To call it a sword and sorcery book sells it short and to call it Fantasy Military fiction doesnt do it justice either. It does have a tremendous amount of action, battles and strategic set ups but it is also a sweeping complex tale of betrayal, politics and twisted relationships. The plot involves a young man who grows fitfully into a leader of men in wartime, his brother who is on the run and gets involved with Thimenian pirates, the advancement of an Ogre named Gutcrusher, a young woman who rides a giant eagle and a host of other well developed characters. This book is a great example of an author who knows how to write action sequences both big and small but also takes his time to develop both an intricate plot and a stunning array of characters. I especially loved Gutcrusher, an Ogre who rises through the ranks. I dont have Kindle Unlimited so I ended up paying for it. MONEY WELL SPENT! Cant wait for Book 2!!
