Ron Paul See other Ron Paul Articles Title: Joe Biden is fine with Hunter's sleazy dealing, and the liberal media is giving him good reason Late last week, the Daily Mail (London) published the most explosive revelations yet from communications recovered from the laptop of Joe Biden’s son. Yet, a quick web search indicates that except for openly conservative American outlets, no major American media organization has reported a word of the new revelations. The new information isn’t just esoterica. It goes to the very heart of the controversy that led to the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump. It also raises serious questions about the current president’s integrity and his independence from foreign influence. There can be no doubt that if the same information had emerged about a Republican president and his son, the story would be dominating the news 24 hours a day. Instead, the media continues to protect the Bidens, acting more as the family’s own press agents than as independent servants of the public’s need to know. According to the Daily Mail, which published actual screenshots of the messages involved, then-Vice President Joe Biden actually met with some of Hunter Biden’s shady business associates from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. There are even photos that appear to be from the dinner in question at Café Milano in Georgetown. One associate, Vadym Pozharskyi, was an executive of the Burisma energy company whose board Hunter Biden sat and which Trump so controversially risked his whole administration. This news directly contradicts multiple claims by Joe Biden and his team that the current president had “never spoken” to Hunter Biden “about his overseas business dealings.” Again, Joe Biden’s claims have been quite definitive — but now they appear to be lies. Worse, Hunter Biden obviously was so aware that his father’s involvement with his foreign dealings was ethically problematic that he invented a cover story for dinner. “The reason for the dinner is ostensibly to discuss food security,” Hunter Biden wrote to one invitee. “Dad will be there but keep that btw us for now.” Likewise, the media’s original hesitancy to cover the laptop story was ostensibly because reporters questioned the laptop’s authenticity. Still, the real reason was to protect the Democratic nominee and thus defeat Trump. From the earliest days after the story broke last fall, all logic insisted the laptop and its contents truly were Hunter Biden’s and were not forged. Yet, Twitter banned the original reporting from its platform, and almost every establishment media outlet did logical gymnastics to assert, without a shred of evidence, that the whole thing was “Russian disinformation.” The “disinformation” claim was such a self-evident falsehood as to amount to major media malpractice. All along, the key question was not whether Hunter Biden engaged in sleazy business practices — of course, he did — but whether his father aided his efforts or even profited from them. When one of Hunter Biden’s business partners, Tony Bobulinski, provided a largely credible account last October of Joe Biden’s involvement on at least one other occasion, most legacy media outlets (the Wall Street Journal excepted) rushed to discredit Bobulinski actively rather than viewing the story through a neutral lens. If Joe Biden actively aided Hunter Biden’s efforts to trade on the family name while Joe Biden was in office, the president's fitness for office is clearly in question. Yet, the major media mavens spiked the story. Well, now they are doing the same thing with this new report, which is even more of a bombshell because the evidence of Joe Biden’s participation is more explicit and because it directly involves a Burisma official. While Trump’s behavior in demanding an investigation of Burisma was clearly at least in some degree inappropriate (even if not deserving of impeachment), the crucial other side of the coin was whether Joe Biden actively helped his son’s extremely lucrative profiteering in the matter. The new Daily Mail report almost certainly answers that question in the affirmative. For the media to ignore it is unconscionable. If Joe Biden is willing to help his son sell access to his office, that’s at least as bad as anything Trump ever did. If the media refuses to pay attention, that might be even worse.
