40% of animal protein worldwide is pork. Poultry is a close second. Infected feed and wild hogs are likely sources of the spread of ASF. China buys most of our hog exports. They own Smithfield. We are short animal feed and prices are exploding.

That's a surprising stat to me. I would have guessed poultry and beef to be #1 or #2.
What they should do is put pigs that have it into isolation and let natural selection run its course so they develop a breed of pigs that are immune. This eradicating enormous numbers of livestock, including chickens, just because they MIGHT have been exposed to pathogens is insanity.
When I drove for Vestal Trucking we picked up a load of fresh frozen chickens in Nebraska.
My co-driver was this green kid named Chad. I got him to the point coming back to Springfield with the load that there was no way he could have made a mistake.
I told him, "You go up to the 4-way stop, make a left turn and go across the river and take 29 South." I hit the sleeper.
I woke up and opened the sleeper curtain just in time to see the sign, "KANSAS STATE LINE 4 MILES". I said, "Stop this truck right now. How are you going to explain being in Kansas when you are not supposed to be there?"
I had to back into a gravel road and turn us around And then route him around the scale north of Kansas City since if they were checking logs it would have been heavy fines. I told him, "Wake me up if you are not sure you are on the right road."
He woke me up and I could tell by the angle the truck was sitting he was on the right road, so I told him, "You're on the right road. Keep going." That was Mo 7. It crossed U.S. 65 and that went right into Springfield.
I bet that kid is no longer driving trucks. He missed turns all the time, and that was the 2nd one on the same trip. :-/
