Do you understand the dynamic of "Mass" and "Density"?? THAT is why things fall -- NOT "gravity."

Gravity is a FORCE, there, I explained it. It's like saying "I have no idea" what Energy is.

WHY it exists is debatable. God made it that way is the easy explanation.

And just to clarify my previous post.

Weight IS the force of gravity upon an object at sea level on planet earth.

MASS is not the same as weight, although on planet earth kilograms are used interchangeably as a measure of both weight and mass in general useage, but in reality kilograms are only a measure of mass.

Force in the metric system is actually measured in NEWTONS, so an object that has a mass of 1 kilogram would actually have a weight of 9.8 Newtons.

However the US customary system is based on weight, so one pound does not define the mass of an object, but the force of gravity that object has on it at sea level.

The Slug is the actual unit of mass in the US customary system, and it is equal to 1/32 of a pound, since m = F/a, or 1 pound / 32

Mass is constant, the force of gravity changes depending how far away you are from a larger body of mass, such as the earth.
