The Islamic Republic of Iran has been accepted as a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the 21st SCO Summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Friday. The IRI has so far been named as an observer member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2005.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi addressed other heads of states and delegations present in the event, expressing hope that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization continues its progressive path, which has in a short time led to attaining distinguished regional and international position. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an effective regional and intra-state organization, which was established by leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in 2001.

The SCO members (Russia and China primarily) are obligating themselves to defend Iran. So much for Israeli pipe dreams of America invading Iran. Remember General Wesley Clark's 7 nations to be invaded in 5 years back after Israel did 911? Iran was the last nation on the list. Iran has Mach 14 missiles. America does not.
