because it 'discriminates against black and Hispanic students' - but parents AND teachers say it will halt smart kids' learning and leave others 'behind'

New York City is ending its gifted and talented schools program for exceptional students and will put all children in the same classes, claiming that the current system discriminates against black and Hispanic kids.

What about its bakkabaw and fooppaw programs? No doubt they're invulnerable -- racemongering is the unchanging topmost priority.

Yeah, and only white European Spaniards are benefiting from the millions spent each year on Spanish->English translators.

How many of them could there be? I've always lamented that if there must be millions of foreigners, why can't they be French or Spanish (the 2 language choices in scool when I was growing up).

Luckily, I chose four years of HS Spanish which has served me well enough in both Mexico and Spain. I am NOT bi-lingual by any means, but I can order a meal, find a place to stay, and generally stay alive in those countries. Better off than a good friend who chose German.

American English should long ago been made the official, and only, language used here. MO did it, why not the rest of the states?

My wife, who regularly trounces me in Scrabble, took two years of Spanish in junior high and even visited Spain with her class. She can count to cinco, but probably not diez.

PS I did beat her by 1 point the other night, and I was so proud of myself. In a single move I played OVINE and OUST on her previous VINE.

When did MO? At one time, of course, making German the official language was seriously considered. I forget the story -- came within 3 votes in the Constitution convention or something.
