There's really nothing to say except this is one heck of a great site for computer advice and research. Happened upon it years ago -- has to be a decade or more -- while dealing with one of my machines' many infirmities and was bowled over by the sites extent. As you see they're still at it minute by minute. The name and cartoon hardhat add a reassuring note of levity ;)

Similarly-named but apparently unrelated is www.howtogeek.com/ . Different format too -- a stream of articles on current issues with puters, smartphones etc. The on 5G is a disappointment but the ad for Ronald Reagan silver coins is surely a good sign ;)

Other puter stuff that's proved useful include:

www.cnet.com/ for product and program info/links

www.bleepingcomputer.com/

www.tomshardware.com/

....but of course googling your problem with very carefully chosen search terms is the king of all -- on ANY subject. While I'm at it, a few favorite puter things:

HARD DRIVE CLEANERS CCleaner (piriform.com)* www.koshyjohn.com/softwa re/diskmax/ Instantly cleans hard drive of junk you never knew you had, esp if you spend a lot of time online. Diskmax (koshyjohn.com)* www.piriform.com /ccleaner/download/standard Ditto, plus it defrags and shows a long list of other actions as it does them – I use both of these whenever closing down or odd quirks are occurring.

MALWARE-BUSTERS AVG Malwarebytes AntiMalware [2019: rarely finds anything anymore]

SEARCHING ENTIRE (!!!) DRIVE AgentRansack download.cnet.com/Agent-Ransack/3000-2072_4- 10043846.html

MISC to skip the ad at beginning of a youtube, page back and then forward (seems to work often). Defraggler = full defragger, finishes job others do, but doesn't seem to make that big a difference. HT Track – download an entire website unless it's PHP. Kingston 64 GB Datatraveler SE9* – carry your entire hard drive with you on one tiny, metal keychain thumb drive. The case is the USB connection, including a hole which for once cannot be broken off! (Later: data doesn't last terribly well on a keychain after all, but great concept and still unusually compact, handy temporary storage.) Windows 7 Snipping Tool – simply, quickly get a whole or partial screen shot, without having to resort to Paintbrush etc. Advanced Google – gives you 4 key boxes to fill in www.google.com/advanced_sear ch

Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V=paste, Ctrl-X=cut, Ctrl-Z= undo, Ctrl-Q= quit. Deformat text in notepad or browser address lines. overwrite button: on mine = INS (grey type = overstrike). Characters: alt commands, unicode, char. map, or keypad: é=Alt-130. ☺☻♥♦♣ ♠•◘○◙ ♂♀♪♫☼ ►◄↕‼¶

Video loop maker – finds good spots for seamless repeats: loopfindr.tumblr.com/ F1 for help. Alt-D gets cursor into addr line and hilites it.
