This is the true story of World War II ace Richard Peterson who killed a German pilot in his parachute in one of the most brutal dogfighting stories of World War II. This historical recreation was made using the World War II flight simulator IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles series.

I talked to a soldier who'd been in the German army at that time.

He said his lieutenant instructed the company that it was against the laws of war to shoot at a man descending in a parachute.

In other words, they were forbidden from doing it.

You wonder though how well orders were followed on the battlefield. A lot of stuff goes by the boards in a war.

It is also a war crime to shoot at lifeboats, but Israel seems to have forgotten. Or maybe they are immune to rule of law.

There are those who subscribe to the "do what thou wilt" school.

You have to qualify to get in with that bunch.

All you need to remember is how German soldiers massacred American prisoners at Malmedy.

And how the Israelis murdered 3,000 Egyptian prisoners in the Sinai during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. This was the reason the Israelis attacked the USS Liberty trying to sink her. The Liberty had picked up electronic evidence of this atrocity.

McGonagle, the Captain of the Liberty was awarded the Medal of Honor in a PRIVATE ceremony. Those awards are usually very public since they want everyone to know about them.

When word the Liberty was under attack reached U.S., planes were launched from the USS Saratoga to the Liberty's defense, but they were recalled.

I have (had) but one foreskin to give for my country.

The pilots should have refused to return and continued to the Liberty.
