I had a young buddy, Greg, that was an engineer at a Carrier plant between Ft. Wayne and Huntington that was effected by nonsense back then. He was scheduled to head to Mex. I haven't heard from him since. I don't know what really happened.

The water has been muddied quite a bit on that story. It would take some deep digging to uncover the truth.
All I know is the Border Patrol grabbed this kid in one of the SW states. He had been caught for the third time coming across the border illegally.
