David Bramley, 63, was charged with felony theft last month after removing a 58-foot bridge from an Akron park. On Nov. 3, the community reported that the bridges deck boards had been stolen from a field on the edges of Middlebury Run Park. Someone had taken the entire structure about a week later. The investigators found out that Bramley, who used to work in the Akron region, hired a crane service firm to load and unload the bridge onto a vehicle, then drove it to Medina County, roughly 30 miles west of Akron. On Friday afternoon, law police executed a search warrant at the Medina County farm and discovered the bridge half disassembled. Based on the report of Akron Beacon Journal, the bridge was originally brought down in 2003-2004 as part of a wetland restoration project, and there were intentions for it to be utilized in a Battered Womens shelter project. hheft of briref="">dges is a small black-market business. As reported by the Times of Northwest Indiana, an Indiana man was convicted in 2018 of demolishing an unused bridge and selling pieces for more than $14,000. Two Washington state men were arrested in October for allegedly chipping chunks of cedar from the bridges base to resell under the table, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Poster Comment: When we worked for Illinois State Highways, one of our maintenance jobs was to clean and paint bridge bearings. This kept the bridges from falling down. One day I was off. When I got back the next day the guys told me kids had built a clubhouse between the girders of one of the bridges. One of the guys told me he would drive me over there to see it. It was pretty neat. When I walked up under it I heard voices. I pushed on the door and it opened. I stuck my head up in there and two girlies were smoking weed. I surprised them. I was wearing my hard hat. They said, "Who are you?" I said, "I'm the bridge inspector. This can't be allowed. It causes undue lateral stress on the I-beams. I'll have to report it." They said, "Don't report us. We'll do anything." When we got back to the job site we told them what happened. The Foreman said, "You guys got your knobs copped and you didn't call me?" We really had him going. ROTFLMAO!
