In comments that are sure to surprise supporters and haters alike, Rittenhouse has made it clear that he supports the Black Lives Matter movement and peaceful demonstrations. He also referenced his own experience with prosecutorial misconduct and noted that change is needed in the justice system. Its not hard to appreciate the sincerity of his comments, as the prosecutors at his trial blatantly disregarded basic legal rules in an attempt to secure a conviction at all costs. Their behavior was so unethical that the judge sternly rebuked them and some speculated the prosecutors were desperately trying to get a mistrial in order to try the case later because they realized they were fighting a losing battle and would likely not win their case. It is, in fact, the same situation may activists say African-Americans face when dealing with the justice system, which makes it clear that people of color arent the only ones impacted by unethical prosecutors. Mr. Rittenhouses comments will do little to appease protestors and rioters who have already taken to the streets to protest the not guilty verdict. However, even a cursory look at the case makes it clear that Kyle Rittenhouse was never interested in causing harm to the African- American community. While the riots taking place at Kenosha at the time came about as the result of police shooting an African-American man, the two men Mr. Rittenhouse shot were white, as was the man he injured. The case was solely about self-defense, and the man Kyle Rittenhouse wounded admitted in court that he pointed his gun at Mr. Rittenhouse first. The jury was right to declare Kyle Rittenhouse innocent. It had nothing to do with a lack of equity in the justice system, the judge being white, or any other factor. Some would argue that a black man in Mr. Rittenhouses position may not have received the same verdict, but that is not a scenario that can be empirically proved. It is also telling that Mr. Rittenhouse has been offered internships by three Republican congressmen, but has not shown an interest in taking up the offers. He is currently a student at Arizona State University and has expressed an interest in studying nursing. Rather than stirring up anger and lashing out at the people who have maligned him throughout his trial, he seems to want to simply be left alone. He has also made it clear that, if he could do things over, he would not have made the same choices he did when leaving for Kenosha with a gun to protect businesses from rioters. While some would continue criticizing Mr. Rittenhouse in spite of his vocal support for BLM, Mr. Rittenhouses most recent interview makes it clear that he is not a racist but rather a caring young man who is concerned about the rights and freedoms of people of all races and ethnic backgrounds. Poster Comment: Kyle is young and needs some real life experience under his belt. And his Mom was right. If he didn't have that rifle that fateful night in Kenosha he would be dead. I suspect he believes that his prospects for books and movie deals will be better if he distances himself from evil white racists who don't want their cities burned down or their wives and daughters raped.
So what? He is not an important person. I'm glad he wasn't convicted, but otherwise, I could not care any less what he thinks. I support "White lives matters more."
He has drunk the Kool Aid, for profit
