Late last week, she issued subpoenas for not just former President Donald Trump but also for his children Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump. James is apparently seeking to get testimony from these three family members as part of her civil investigation into the business practices of the family. According to court filings, the subpoenas specifically seek documents and testimonies in connection with an investigation into the valuation of properties owned or controlled by Trump and his company, the Trump Organization. The filing continued: OAG (attorney general) will oppose any motion to quash or for related relief within 14 days of the filing of the motion. OAG will file any cross motion to enforce its Subpoenas to the Individual Trump Parties, and will file any necessary amendments to the pleadings, simultaneously with the filing of any opposition to the motion to quash. These subpoenas that James issued to the Trump family members come only a few weeks after Trump himself filed a separate lawsuit to put a halt on James investigation into his business practices. That suit, which was filed on December 20, claimed that the sole mission of James in this case is guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate and retaliate against a private citizen who she views as a political opponent. James, a Democrat, has seemingly been trying to get Trump and his family from any angle possible since before she took office. That plunged her into the national spotlight, along with her recent investigation into the conduct of now former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. James had initially been set to run for governor in New York, but on December 9, she announced she wouldnt seek that position. Instead, shell seek re-election as attorney general in the state. In a statement that was issued after the subpoenas were made public earlier this week, James said: For more than two years, members of the Trump family and the Trump Organization have continually sought to delay and impede our investigation into Donald Trump and the Trump Organization, but despite their names, they must play by the same rules as everyone else. These delay tactics will not stop us from following the facts or the law, which is why we will be asking the court to compel Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump to testify with our office under oath. Our investigation will continue undeterred. At the same time that James is conducting this civil investigation, former Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.s office was conducting a criminal investigation into the Trump Organization and whether it had falsified records to gain loans and good standing with creditors. That investigation is still likely to continue even though Vance is no longer in office. On January 1, Manhattan swore in its new district attorney, Alvin Bragg, who is a former federal prosecutor. I believe that the Trumps have told NY to pound sand.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. ~ H. L. Mencken
I believe that the Trumps have told NY to pound sand. Indeed they have. When we worked for Illinois Highways we would tell them to pound salt. LOL "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one." Edmund Burke
