When we did Illinois Highway maintenance, one of our jobs was to scrape and paint bridge bearings. We used and aluminumized paint which was more resistant to corrosion, After a while we started using anti-spalling compound to keep the concrete from breaking down from salt used in winter time to melt snow and ice.
