National News See other National News Articles Title: Man Steals Purse In Brazen NYC Subway Attack Caught On Camera Man Steals Purse In Brazen NYC Subway Attack Caught On Camera A man caught stealing a woman’s purse during a Manhattan subway attack is on the New York Police District’s priority list. The incident happened at the West 163rd Street station in Washington Heights at 6 P.M. as suggested by the surveillance video. As seen in the video, the male suspect intimidated the victim, a woman aged 43 years old, with a knife. He was also seen trying to take the victim’s phone. The two engaged in a brief struggle before the man settled to grab the victim’s purse instead and ran away, according to the police report. The victim was not injured during the incident. Her purse was later recovered around the vicinity but the money and valuable contents inside are already gone. People who have information about the incident and the man involved are encouraged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for spanish. But when I was a young man in Chicago making deliveries for the florist, we witnessed a purse snatching less then a block from the shop. We chased the guy with the purse. He cut thru a gangway and I had to bail out and chase him on foot. I caught him in the middle of Sheridan and Pine Grove and slammed him to the ground. He was armed with an 11 inch butcher knife. I was awarded a Chicago Police Citizens Award. But it was in a dresser drawer in Golden City when my furniture disappeared.
