Now that the Bush administration has us all in a disaster frame of mind, let's return to that greatest of disaster epics, The Poseidon Adventure. One of my favorite flicks and I always cry when fat Mrs. Rosen dies. Now we have the remake coming out and my prediction is that it will stink, BUT....why not take the Poseidon Adventure personality test and see which character YOU would be in case your next cruise is struck by a tsunami and you have to battle your way up to the bottom of the boat. Which is probably what Laura Bush feels like most nights....

I came out as Mr. Martin. Well...that may not be the right way of expressing it...

It says Manny............so what is this Posidon stuff.......and who the hell is Manny? It wasn't even MR. Manny! The pic showed a cut on the head--I don't like that. :(

I am Manny Rosen. Private and sensitive, I very rarely stand in the spotlight. (BWAHAHAHA!) Instead, I quietly influence and guide those around me. (mehitable, c'mere---I want to quietly whisper something in your ear to guide you) You can be reserved and hard to get to know (the very soul of reservation), which perhaps makes your loved ones feel a little lonely at times. But you often surprise people with your insightful observations about them and their situations. (Speaking of which, I gotta 'nother insightful observation for you, mehitable...) :P

The Poseidon Adventure was a movie from about 72 or so - one of the first of the big disaster movies. It's about a giant cruise ship that gets hit by this massive wave (tsunami) and turned upside down. The survivors, led by Gene Hackman and Ernest Borgnine, have to fight their way through the upside down ship to get to the point where they think rescue is most likely. It's a great movie. There's a remake coming out in a day or so, but remakes usually stink. Manny Rosen is Jack Albertson who's an old Jewish guy married to really fat Mrs. Rosen (Shelly Winters). Manny's just a really patient and loving husband who spends most of the movie coaxing Shelly in and out of small passage ways.

Mr. Martin is Red Buttons, whom I thought was kind of dorky. He looks after this pretty useless blonde, Carol Lynley, whom I would have simply drowned in a corner somewhere. But...that's what the test says :)

I guess it could have been worse...I could have been Ernest Borgnine.

Hmmm......your description of the movie sounds like maybe what I saw for a few minutes the other day on the tube while I was treadmillin.

I haven't been to a theatre since Best Little Whorehouse in Texas came out, ca 82. Before that, would probably have been a western in the mid 70s. Movies aren't my thing.

I did buy the movie Seabiscuit a few years back.

I don't even buy a tv guide anymore. I have the big satellite dish Cband....and only buy a news channel, a movie channel, and A&E. Seldom turn on the movie channel or A&E. Generally catch the news in the am, and Dr. Gene Scott's programming the rest of the time.

Oh well.........
