Sometimes the four hour time limit seems to be too short of late. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing it lengthened to 24 hours if that's not a huge programming bugaboo. Most news cycles are burned out by then and most dopey errors should be detected by that time.

Just a thought.

Ping-Ping. Feel free to discuss.

I'll need to check with Justin Trudeau first. Don't want to force him to declare another Emergency.

48 hours should be more than adequate for my reconsideration needs.

Thanks for this. Why have a limit at all? We didn't in my other main forum of choice. I'm always seeing parts of my stuff that need fixing. I don't mind the 4-hour limit but a longer one would be ducky.

You funny!

Mildly, perhaps.

Just all pretty depressing what's going on. Our wonderful Deep State has been kicking Russia to the curb for the last 25 years and now Russia has decided that they've had enough of that crap. It's all stupid. We don't even have any legit reason to have been hating Russia since the fall of the USSR. We had a cold war, yes, but we won, but winning wasn't enough. we gotta smear Russia's face in the mud constantly with no opportunity for them to even apologize. Not that they want to. Not that any apology is even warranted, for the most part, beyond what happened under the Soviet flag which is now very much history.

Maybe Ukraine will not put up a fight over Donetsk and Luganst (or Luhanst, depending on your news source). If they don't Russia will only take that and be content. I suppose Ukraine won't declare war on Russia because there's no way they can win, and if they do, Russia will oblige and take over the whole country. Otherwise Russia will be content, for now, with the 2 states.

China, meanwhile, is watching for their opportunity to take Taiwan. China may well be the next world empire and not a friendly one, of course, and the USA will let it happen because of collective stupidity and governing by a Deep State that represents the worst weakness and fallacy of humanity.

I don't know how immoral or power hungry Putin may be, but I do know he's no worse than our Deep State leaders. And maybe even better.

So there are my evening musings....

Why not forever?

After all, if after a post, Oceania goes to war with Eurasia, we need to be able to go back and make it so that Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia.

The sheeple are partly to blame. They've always gone giddily along with the stupid trick of starting a 'war' to distract them from the politicians depredations on them at home. I knew all was lost for America when Bush-43 started screeching about Sadaam and lauched Operation Desert Slaughter. Now the war is on the sheeple themselves -- the covidiocy -- and the idiots have just lapped that up too.

Why have a limit at all?

I didn't know why until Strait's post #7. I suppose the never-ending edit could be used as some kind of history eraser button for malicious reasons. I brought this up because I ran into a mistake the other day that had timed out, and today I found some additional info I wanted to slip into an earlier post that didn't really justify it's own post.

I don't have a problem with Lod's 48 hours, I haven't really thought about it, that's why I posted this in the clear rather than just PMing Pin.

He's certainly a lot smarter and more experienced. He still thinks there's only two genders. Oh the humanity!

So there are my evening musings....

I agree. Putin's biggest crime may be that he's white and a man.

Strate was being sardonic.

Was he? What would a time limit have been for in the first place then?

(Edit) I seem to recall it being longer in the past, but I don't know when or why if it, in fact, was changed.

Have you read Orwell's 1984?

Of course I have, albeit probably 50-some years ago. I think Mr. Gate was trying to point out the perils of having the unlimited ability to change history.

Or I'm just obtuse. Regardless, I think that I understand the point of having a time limit on the edit feature now, which I haven't thought about much until now.

Yes, changing history is a serious political crime and no mere Orwellian fiction. Puttinsky must be reading my 4um posts and feeling embarrassed about his past:
