Having already rounded up resources from Starlink to try and provide Ukrainians with internet access, Elon Musk is taking his aid to the country one step further. The Tesla CEO said this week that Tesla will be offering "free charging for electric vehicles in four cities around Ukraine for those fleeing the country", according to the Metro.
The free charging applies to parts of Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary that border Ukraine, the report says. The company notified locals of the news via email.
The email said Tesla enabled "free Supercharging for both Tesla and Non- Tesla vehicles at sites in areas impacted by the recent situation in Ukraine".
Free charging is being offered in Trzebownisko in Poland; Košice in Slovakia; and Miskolc and Debrecen in Hungary.
"We hope that this helps give you the peace of mind to get to a safe location," Tesla wrote to its customers.
While Tesla has helped out during natural disasters in the past - notably during the California wildfires of 2018 - this marks the first time the company is offering free charging to non-Tesla EV owners.
