The facility had not been used by civilians for some time before it was hit, Lavrov said

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov denied Ukrainian claims that Russian troops had shelled an operating maternity hospital in Ukraine. The building had been used as a base by the far-right Azov Battalion of the Ukrainian National Guard, the top Russian diplomat claimed on Thursday, during a press conference in Turkey.

The hospital in question has been for days under the control of a Ukrainian paramilitary group and Moscow presented evidence of this to the UN Security Council several days ago, Lavrov said.

“The Azov Battalion and other radicals kicked out all the expectant mothers, the nurses and other staff members. It was the base of the Azov ultra-radicals,” he said, speaking after meeting his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Turkey’s Antalya.

Lavrov added that reports coming from Ukraine that contradict this were obviously meant to “manipulate global public opinion” about what is happening in the country, and he also chastised Western media for taking part in the propaganda effort.

“I have seen reports … that were really emotional. Unfortunately, the other side of the situation, which would allow one to form an objective opinion, was not given any prominence,” Lavrov said. The Russian diplomat was commenting on claims raised by Ukraine that Russian troops had deliberately attacked a medical facility in the city of Mariupol on Wednesday. Ukrainian officials claimed that a Russian airstrike had injured at least 17 people but killed nobody.

Footage from the scene showed a heavily damaged building with broken medical equipment scattered inside and Ukrainian troops helping women, some of them carrying infants in their arms, who were implied to be survivors of a bombing.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address on Wednesday that the incident proved that Russia was conducting a genocide of the Ukrainian people and called on other nations to stop Russian atrocities.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier on Thursday commented on the allegations, suggesting the details are rather vague and it’s better to prompt the Russian military for details.

“We will definitely ask our military. You and I don’t have definitive information about what had happened there,” he told journalists. You can share this story on social media:

And Putin is ripping babies out of incubators bashing their heads into the floor.

You know, just like the Kuwaitis did.

Do you seriously believe the lies and propaganda pouring out of the mouths of Nazis and their enablers?

Do you feel the clot shots are 100% safe and effective because your TV told you?

"The facility had not been used by civilians for some time before it was hit" -- what a fantastic rationale for bombing one! Hey, let's us do some. Power of pride -- united we stand!

If you read the story you'd know that the Nazi Azov battalion was occupying it and that it had been emptied beforehand.

You should watch the Oliver Stone documentary on Ukraine that Horse posted, it shows how the CIA has been working with WWII Ukraine Nazis since 1946, and throughout the cold war they have had strong ties to the subsequent offshoots of the Nazi movement in Ukraine.

Or you can just believe whatever propaganda you find, it's your choice.

I don't read or consume 'mainstream' media. Just like people here don't stop to look too closely at Putin and Russia -- oh SAVE our world heroic stocky KGB jew, only you can do this because you superficially don't seem as horrible as our politicians. Here, Vlad, take Latvia -- nobody's using it!

Nothing you can cite can justify Russia's latest rape. Your hothead tone is getting me all sentimental, taking me back to the heady days of Reagan bombing Gaddafi's tent and killing his little adopted daughter. Enjoy WW3 and take pride in having helped in your own small way to stoke it up ;)

The US was encouraging the Nazis to shell civilians (ethnic Russians) in East Ukraine, the US was operating biological warfare labs within Ukraine, some close to the Russian border, and Ukraine was acting belligerently towards Russia, ignoring the Minsk Accords and giving Russia the finger.

The US and NATO has been pumping lethal weapons into Ukraine since the CIA overthrow of the Ukraine government in 2014, and fomenting trouble there since at least that time.

There is evidence that Ukraine was attempting to build a nuclear weapon, and they have no qualms about using one if they succeeded.

If anything bud, you've swallowed the Kool-Aid and think that we should throw more fuel on the fire. Do you have any kids or family? Don't you care if they get lit up in a sea of radiation?

Your beloved Biden had his hands in Ukraine while he was VP, he had his part in starting this mess. But then your beloved black master Obama was the guy who really ran the show.

But you're onboard with all that and think we should nuke Russia or something. Have you had your boosters yet?

HAHAHAHAAAAAA, you've really been paying attention. GUILTY as charged of being a drooling, demented Dummacrat!

Do rave on -- this is classic ;) It's our doom, but just a great Loony Toons©/Merry Melodies® caricature of all-Amurrican jingoism. A horrible stupid way for us all to die, but amusing in its Strangelovian way!

Say it -- we have to fight them over there or we'll fight them over here. Would you please just once? C'mon, be a sport :]

I say we should have reigned in the psychos who are trying to get us into a global thermonuclear war while we had a chance.

Their agenda certainly seems to be that of global depopulation, as if they were a hostile alien race who wish to cleanse the earth of all human life.

In fact, I don't see too many other explanations.

You were saying -- about noble Russia, the knight in shining armor among nations? You know, the one that's threatening to hurl a few nukes as we speak ;)

Don't put words into my mouth skippy.

You seem to have a selective view of who's threatening who.

Do you think causing the violent overthrow of a friendly government next door is an act of love?

Sending actual Nazis lethal weaponry to kill civilians is a sign of wisdom?

Engineering this entire thing to demonize the nation and cut it off from rest the world is an act of kindness?

Do you think if the US/CIA/NATO weren't a bit concerned about Russia's nukes they wouldn't have attempted to impose a no fly zone and actually attack Russia itself?

There are no knights in shining armor here, but Russia is far from being the villain in this story.

Those who feel the need to create, spread, and promote propaganda that might just rile up enough people for them to be onboard with a first strike against Russia are just as evil, if not more so, than the ones who planned this entire situation.
