Are you talking a specified time period each day, or certain days, or ? 24/7?

Just like radio, only on the net? Instead of call in, I presume it would be typed in requests?

DO you have access to all the songs that might be requested?

have a call-in thing and discuss politics between songs, it might work. Contact Ben Burch at DU. He has a ton of things going on with links and publicity. He can tell you how to do it and get listeners. Which will pay for it eventually.

When I'm gone it would be pre-programmed. Eves it would be LIVE with typed in or email requests in real time and my collection includes THOUSANDS of songs in all genres. :-)) It would be EXACTLY like a radio station broadcasting on the net in stereo with an occassional news story, weather and some political rants..but 95% music. I'll be acting as a DJ with some talking but not nearly as much as a commercial station.

YEP. It's legal and licensed by BMI, ASCAP and SESAC. I'm a BMI songwriter myself. Basically wondering if anyone here on F4UM would listen.

You would have some expenses though, maybe you could advertise. Internet radio is becoming popular.

With all due respect, why would you consider such an expenditure when just the other day you couldn't decide on paying your rent or your electric and insurance.

Am I missing something here?

We need far more independent radio out there so I'd say - yeah! go for it! let us know what you're doing.

Even though it is a pay service, I won't be paying for it Brian. Like you said, I ain't got the money...
A very good friend of mine with a disability suggested it. They'd pick up the 15 bucks a month fee if they get to broadcast and program some of the music in return for using my music collection.. It's always been a desire of theirs..

JT has talked about doing something like this connected to 4--maybe having a chatroom type of thing to go with it? That would be cool!

Hey IndieTX. From my limited experience, it might be a money drain. No reflexion on the music, guests, etc, but the competition is tough. BobJ on the FR has sunk quite a bit into his FReeper effort, which has gone no where. It really depends on the start up cost, and the ability to attract sponsors.

It really depends on the start up cost, and the ability to attract sponsors.

It's only 15 bucks per month that my buddy will pick up. It's only a hobby fun kinda thing. Not doing it for profit or donations...

A lot of people DO try to do it for money, and they invest a LOT of money into it in order to do so. This is just for listening pleasure of those who want to tune in and the fun of spinning tunes.

It's the type of deal that you can cancel anytime you want so there's no long term contract. The people that do it for money invest in very sophisticated software and pay high monthly fees for the bandwidth to have a hundred listeners or more. This deal is gonna handle between 10 and 30 live listeners at one time and no software purchase required.

If my buddy or myself get sick of it...LOL..there's a 7 day trial and you can cancel at any time :-)))) after that. [Momma didn't raise no fool...LMAO!]

Since I'm not paying, I figured it might be fun to try out ;)) Who knows, maybe if I use enough "key words" like "Christian, Second Amendment, Guns, Constitution, New World Order, Bill of Rights, Founding Fathers"...Echelon will grab hold of it and send the Gestapo to my door asking why I am a terrorist for mentioning such evil things..LMFAO!!!! There's not going to be much talking anyhow :) If we get it set up, I'll post it so people can listen while they RANT on freedom4um, unless of course they think our taste in music stinks.

Aaaaarrrrr, matey...some of the BEST music I have ever heard was broadcast by some 'pirate stations' I used to listen to back in the 70's. No payola meant a wider variety of music played...some albums I own I owe to having heard the music on the 'pirates'.

Putting the playlist together before it goes live. It is gonna' be one helluva damn good playlist!

If anybody has any songs they want programmed or a particular group or artist, lay it on me so I can put it in rotation.

Should be live late tonight or tomorrow eve....will post the LINK when it goes live.
