C&L's Late Night Music Club with Joni Mitchell

It's Friday. I think we need to all calm down from a hectic week. I couldn't find a better selection than Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius and Don Alias playing, "Coyote."

Here's a review about Joni and the band. Agree or disagree:

"Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light is a doubly terrific treat for music lovers. For her fans, of course, it's a legendary 1979 concert showcasing the singer/songwriter in full artistic glory. And for modern jazz lovers, it marks the chance to see a band of musicians that can be called nothing less than a supergroup...read on"

I couldn't believe I didn't own a copy of this DVD. I do now.

When I was a teenager, I idolized Joni Mitchell. Although she was not knockout gorgeous like Carly Simon, she was even more intelligent and complex in the lyrics she wrote.

I definitely would have become a groupie if given the opportunity. I was just so totally in love with her. I remember when I bought "The Hissing of Summer Lawns" in around 1976. Practically everything the woman did was an instant classic and this was no exception.

I just now watched the video. That was awesome. At first I thought, wow, Joni Mitchell looks just like she did in 1979! Duh. It was filmed in 1979.

Here's how she looked in 1995, one from 1983, and also her high school senior photo from around 1960, I'd guess:

I always liked her lips. Nowadays women pay big money to achieve that look.

That is friggin' outstanding!

I seem to recall reading that Jaco made his own fretless by yanking the frets off a Fender Jazz Bass!

His sound makes me crazy!

And Joni is a regular on my playlist.

speaking of paying for lips, look at what Gennifer Flowers (of Bill Clinton fame) just did to hers (along with a facelift).

Dayum! Are you sure the Dixie Mafia didn't just tie her to the railroad tracks somewhere near Mena like they did with those two boys who witnessed a cocaine drop?

I can't see how she can ever come out of this looking presentable.

they're going to reveal her new look on Monday's show. http://insider.tv.yahoo.com/celeb /4 133/ i was watching Friday and they showed a preview. she doesn't look like the same woman and her lips look like that creepy looking catwoman, Jocelyn somebody or other, the socialite from NY. Gennifer had pretty lips too. i don't know why she did this.

I love that song "Blue Boy" by Joni Mitchell, it's from one of her early albums.

I'm thinking the album was called "Ladies of the Canyon", though that is the name of one of the songs from that album too.

On the lips.. SO many women have it done and they look hideous..way over done..

Especially when they overdo it on the upper lip, like that Laura Flynn Boyle, it looks very strange. I'm lucky as I have full lips, which weren't always in style.
