That's a good scene, but a couple of inaccuracies. The Russians didn't invade Afghanistan. They were invited in by the acting government to help them with the Mujahedeen problem. That was classified, I guess and long before the internet. Understand, that at that time, the Cold War was still raging as the era of Carter wore on.
