"Carmakers are expected to absorb some of the rise in costs through cost-cutting efforts, but it will be difficult to absorb all the increases."
My first vehicle was a stripped down 4x4 Chevy Blazer with straight six and three on the tree. It had lockout hubs. I went a lot of places with that truck. Ridge running in Arkansas and even out to New Mexico.
I can recall going thru Oklahoma when there were gas wars and regular was 19 cents a gallon.
I even used it to do newspaper relays for the local agency in Chicago.
It didn't get good gas mileage, but it was ok at the time. ;)
