Cole Swindell - Ain't Worth The Whiskey

I think it was Tim McGraw that said, "Don't expect a free ride from no one. Don't hold a grudge or a chip and here's why, bitterness keeps you from flying, always stay humble and kind."

I try to take solace in the Bible, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Then there's country music.

I kinda looked like this guy until I was killed in 2013 and I was 5'11", 132#, 29" waist with a 32" inseam. Now I'm 5'10", and shrinking everyday, 38x32, 200#+ now that I can't move much. It happens. I stopped the lawyers after five years when they were gonna to try to take some old lady's house in the MeadowGhetto in New Haven. I got $20,000. I'd love to know how far my little Honda Fit jumped off the ground before it settled. I was out after the first crunch of sheet metal and before the airbags deployed. I'll never put on a seatbelt again.

I know the pics in this vid are a bunch of multi-culti bullshit, but I've probably been in more than half those shitholes in my travels. They're not exactly as depicted as Oprah would have you believe.

McGraw's words are good. I've never been pilot-in-command over 10,000 ft MSL. Space is Elon's gig. I'm headed to Valhalla after I pick up my kids and girlfriends at the Rainbow Bridge.

“The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone.
TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people’s door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy…
but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone.”

Ya see that semi-transparent guy in the background, silent, listening, looking? That was me. The long-necked guy in the tie and overcoat was a gal named Pam. That was my life for 15 years, looking, listening, silent.

I'm still that way today. People, my buddies mostly, call me and want me to come to them. When I tell them what they should know, they get mad. I tell them, "Why did you call me then?"

They'll blather on about how I don't know anything. My typical response is, "Don't call me again. I wasn't begging to come over."

I've walked alone for a long time. I had two fears. Dying in a foreign country. Check, Bidee made that happen. Two, dying alone. Circumstance made that happen along with Bidee's clot-shot mandates. He took my last girly-friend, a nurse that just wanted to ply her tradecraft.

Now I've got her 30 y/o friend/coworker chasing me around. I don't want her chasing me to the Bridge. I've already got two gals and about a hundred dogs waiting for me. I was exaggerating, I'm sure Punk has garroted Daria by now. McMurphy is probably stoic enough that she might get along OK when she gets her 4th, 5th shots. Why stop now?

I nicknamed Aleena after the show 'China Beach' after Coleen McMurphy the fucked-up VN nurse. We have a curious relationship. When she shows up at random after a typical 12-hour shift, she crys on my shoulder for a couple hours. When we're vertical for the half hour or so before she's got to go back into the dyin' zone we kind of look at each other awkwardly struggling for words.

What do you tell a gal that knows she's dying? She knows I'm keeping her at arm's length, because I can't get too attached looking at her casket and the standy-up flower thing at the head of her casket. What's she supposed to say to me? I met her at a funeral. Those flowers are expensive as hell, but the emotional toll is a killer. I've got 1-800- flowes.com as a favorite on my computer and my funeral jeans in the bag. At this rate, I'm gonna wear the funeral jeans out before my work pants. I've got a lifetime supply of new black pocket T-shirts thanks to Menards. I just pick the crappiest one off my loveseat and throw it in the rag pile after the funeral, then get drunk in my den.

"Left me in the vacuum of my heart."

I bought a big standy-uppy flower thingy for Betty's funeral during the beginning of covi. I dressed up in my work jeans (since corrected with a specialty set of jeans), my black Australian oilskin duster that my ex- wife spent way too much money on, and a (mandatory) bandanna over my face. I probably looked like the Frito-Bandito, an imposing one.

Betty was my neighbor two doors east, a nice old Southern gal. Her family wasn't real well off, that's why I spent a little money on the standy-uppy thing.

Betty was a gardening freak, I knew she didn't like roses, I can't remember what I sent, but Big Betty would've approved. I almost died when I saw my flowers were the ones at the head of her casket. There was the spray on the casket that my high school classmate David O. McComb (funeral home director) probably stiffed these nice folks for and a couple little things folks gave that they could afford.

I wasn't allowed to sign the guest register. Covi. I had to yell at someone ten feet away in a closet. That was probably more traumatic than my father's funeral was in 1976 when I was a kid, but I suppose 241 in one day in the fall of 1983 jaded me a bit.

I don't skimp on flowers anymore. Smile at me on the street, you're gettin' flowers.
