Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expressed shock on Thursday when radio host Charlamagne tha God told him that black Americans are souring on Democrats because of their failed promises.
What happened?
During an interview on "The Breakfast Club," Charlamagne broke the bad news to Buttigieg, a Democrat.
"You do realize, Pete, a lot of black people feel like Democrats have kept no promises since they’ve been in office," Charlamagne said.
"Really?" responded a shocked Buttigieg.
"Yes," Charlamagne confirmed. "Reverend Al [Sharpton] has said that a million times."
Buttigieg, a former Democratic presidential candidate, then went into full-blown spin mode, singing the praises of the Biden administration. But Charlamagne was not buying it.
"Okay, look, I get it because the work is not done," Buttigieg said. "But the reason I say ‘really’ is we just passed one of the biggest pieces of infrastructure legislation in American history. It was a promise, and it wasn’t just a promise that the Biden-Harris administration made or that us Democrats made in 2020. This is a promise that every president and every Congress has made in some way shape or form for as long as I’ve been an adult, and we actually did it.”
“Those are big, broad things, and that’s great," Charlamagne interjected. "But I’m talking about things like things you campaigned on like the George Floyd Policing Act and the fact that our voting rights— man, like 19 states have implemented voter suppression bills. You know, that’s going to directly impact us the most. And the only strategy Democrats are gonna have is we have got to go out there and vote in mass numbers to fight it.
"That’s not a strategy— hope is not a strategy," Charlamagne declared.
When "The Breakfast Club" co-host Angela Yee pressed Buttigieg further, he deferred blame for Democrats' failures to states, saying "a lot of the power and a lot of the decisions are actually at the state level."
Polling consistently shows what Charlamagne suggested. For example, a Wall Street Journal poll released last month, which was described "5-alarm fire for the Democratic Party," showed Republicans are making significant gains with black Americans.
In fact, support for Democrats among black voters dropped a whopping 21 points compared to the same poll taken just four months earlier in November 2021, translating to 27% of black voters favoring Republicans.
Who the hell is “Charlemagne Tha God”? More importantly, why is his stupid opinion so important? Especially when he, like so many other entitled people give the democrats a free pass to wage war on this country from within?
