He polled his Twitter followers about the matter on Sunday. Most voted in favour.

Musk recently became Twitter's largest shareholder after amassing a 9.2% stake in the company.

Elon Musk has floated the idea of turning Twitter's headquarters in San Francisco into a homeless shelter, saying "no one shows up anyway" at the office.

On Sunday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, who recently became Twitter's largest shareholder, posed the question to his Twitter followers in a poll.

Six hours after Musk posted the poll, an overwhelming majority of users had voted in favour of repurposing Twitter's HQ as he suggested: some 91% of the 912,867 votes were cast for "Y."

Musk appeared to be taking aim at Twitter's remote-work policy. In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey told employees they could work from home indefinitely, even after the pandemic ended.

San Francisco, a wealthy city that is home to several prominent tech companies, has a large population of homeless people. In 2020, there were an estimated 5,200 unsheltered homeless people on San Francisco's streets.

Hours after posting his poll on Twitter's HQ, Musk posted another, this time asking his followers whether they wanted to "delete the w in twitter." The only possible answers to the poll were "Yes" or "Of course."

It emerged last week that Musk had amassed a 9.2% stake in Twitter, making him the company's largest shareholder. Twitter said later that Musk had been appointed to its board.

Musk often polls his followers, sometimes posing serious questions, sometimes not. In recent weeks, he's asked his followers whether or not they believe Twitter "rigorously adheres" to free speech, and whether or not they'd like to be able to edit their tweets.

On Thursday, Musk posted a photo of himself apparently smoking a joint, with the caption: "Twitter's next board meeting is gonna be lit."

Gotta say, Musk is pretty cool. I know he has his detractors, some here on 4um, but he seems to be proving himself in a good light.

Elon Musk Is Officially Trolling Twitter

Now that Elon Musk has taken a nearly 10% stake in Twitter and has become a board member, he has spent his days mostly trolling the social media site...on Twitter.

But if you look closely, Musk's "trolling" also appears to be moving the ball for positive change forward at the social media company - Musk is a force large enough that Twitter must pay attention to him; something that the social media site has never had to deal with in the past (although it certainly has needed it).

Musk's comments about Twitter over the last 24 to 48 hours have ranged from borderline ridiculous to honest attempts at improving the company. Either way, it appears like Musk is just trolling, too. For example, on Sunday morning, Musk put up a poll asking whether or not he should "Delete the 'w' in Twitter", which would make the social media app's name "Titter":

During the weekend, Musk fired several shots across the bow at Twitter, even embracing a conversation with "The Big Short" protagonist Michael Burry, who has been famously critical of Tesla, in order to join forces against Twitter.

When Burry complained that his blue check mark had been removed after putting up a post about President Biden, Hunter Biden and stating that Elon Musk buying enough shares to control Twitter would be "good for America", Musk responded in jest:

"You will get it back, even though you shorted Tesla, you bastard"

On Saturday, Musk posted a Twitter poll that asked whether or not he should convert Twitter's San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter since "no one shows up anyway":

Musk had also Tweeted out numerous random suggestions for the social media site, in addition to lobbing critiques at it, over the weekend.

"Everyone who signs up for Twitter Blue (ie pays $3/month) should get an authentication checkmark," Musk wrote on Saturday. "Price should probably be ~$2/month, but paid 12 months up front & account doesn’t get checkmark for 60 days (watch for CC chargebacks) & suspended with no refund if used for scam/spam," he continued, Tweeting directly at Twitter's CEO.

That Tweet followed scores of other Tweets talking about ways to implement an edit feature.

There was uncharacteristic radiosilence out of Twitter early last week following the news that Elon Musk had accumulated his stake with the clear intention of making substantive content changes in what has become a platform ruled by snowflakes, for snowflakes.

"Looking forward to working with Parag & Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!" Musk wrote on April 5.

We're looking forward to it too, Elon.

Musk is a flake, it's impossible to tell what he's up to. Him and Dakkie would be fun to put in a cage together.

Musk is a flake, it's impossible to tell what he's up to.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is plotting to use his presence on the board to sabotage Twitter while he is secretly learning about the inner workings to promote a competing platform he's building.

But he could be plotting a hostile takeover as well. While he's limited to some 14% ownership by SEC regs, other super rich allies could buy big stakes in it as well, and together, they could take complete control.

a hostile takeover

I know a guy who is building Austrian syle.308 rifles in Illinois.

I asked him once, "Where did you get the money to start that business?"

He replied, "Good fellas." He took a loan from the mob. He must have paid them off since he sells every rifle that comes off the line and they are back ordered. He also sells to law enforcement, federal, state and local.

He was partners with a guy who we all worked with on Illinois Highways. He tried a hostile takeover and got kicked out of the business.

Last time I talked with him a few years ago he told me, "He's been gone 15 years now. It's better for both of us." ;)

Elon Musk Will No Longer Join Twitter Board Of Directors

Following Elon Musk's recent acquisition of 9.2% of Twitter and last Tuesday's formal announcement that he would be joining the Board of Directors, Musk has declined the board seat.

"Elon Musk has decided not to join our board," wrote CEO Parag Agrawal, adding "We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks. We also believed that having Elon as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward."

"Elon's appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board. I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not."

Word of Musk's appointment to the board sent liberals into fits - as the inclusion of the free-speech advocate was seen as a threat to left-wing heterodoxy that underpins Twitter's culture.

Of course, for those paying attention, this means that Musk can now own more than 14.9% of the company - a limit that board members must adhere to.

As the Wall Street Journal notes, "It was unclear why Musk refused the board seat. Adding Musk would have restricted how big a stake in the company he could own. Musk could now do anything from selling his stake to potentially pursuing a hostile takeover of the company."

We await the next Musk tweet with bated breath... [END]

Now what?

(Edit) CEO Parag Agrawal

That guy's a friggin' heart attack. I don't know anybody that wouldn't sacrifice their life to put a bullet in his head. He's either being protected by a government (probably US) or spending all his money on private security. Not a good life, regardless.

Why can't you be crazy in a fun way like Dakkie?

Fuck Twitter too...

You're a dick, Elon. You've got 300 billion. Why didn't just buy Twatter out and shitcan all the wokers?

Shitbag. (Edit) Send my Godson and his daughter a new Tesla and prove me wrong. Send a cheap one (and charger) because I'm going to have to cover the taxes and plates unless you want to cover that too. Bidet's and your greenie delusions shut down the company he used to work for, so put your money where mouth is, hotshot.

Prove me wrong Mr. Fragile Ego. "Oooooh, somebody said something bad about me. I'll fuck with the website/company and hurt the stockholders." Such a big, rich man taking the food out of a little girl's mouth.

Y'all have my permission to post that on his shitbag (Twitter) website. He can com see me face-to-face and I can show him how his Green New Dark Ages delusion is destroying this country in about 15 minutes.

Throw my buddy Neil a few bones while you're at it. No sense that he should run the best 4um on the interwebs on his own. Pony up, big boy.

Elon is up to something, and he's not going to tip his hand. Maybe he'll buy it out, or maybe he'll screw twitter over while kicking off his own service. We'll see how this plays out.
