I realized they went off the deep end when I found out they're multiplexing the wiring in cars. For example, one common wire controls all four windows. I guess each window switch has a microcontroller in it to operate the microcontroller in each specific window motor.

Cranks work fine for me.

Not bad. But you forgot to mention that when the window crank handle breaks off you can replace it with a set of Mini Vise Grips.
