Uncertainty is growing about the whereabouts of the Chilean-American writer and journalist Gonzalo Lira, who lives in Ukraine, as days go by since his disappearance was reported.

The last contact with him was on April 15, through his social networks – Twitter, Telegram and YouTube–, where he has thousands of followers.

In the last few hours, versions have come out, which have subsequently been discredited, of an alleged murder. In addition, through a new Twitter account, it is ensured that the communicator would be safe.

Previous complaints and pending interviews Lira moved from kyiv to Kharkiv, after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, and reported on the armed conflict from the ground.

On March 26, he denounced the arrest or disappearance of people critical of the government of Vladimir Zelenski and warned that if they could not locate him, he could have been added to that list.

“Do you want to know the truth about the Zelensky regime? Google these names: Vlodimir Struk, Denis Kirev, Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich, Nestor Shufrych, Yan Taksyur, Dmitri Djangirov, Elena Berezhnaya. If you haven’t heard from me in 12 hours or more, put my name on this list.“, wrote.

In addition to that complaint, prior to his disappearance, the Chilean- American expressed his concern about a publication What did the American media do? The Daily Beast. In an article titled ‘How a sleazy American dating coach became a pro-Putin shill in Ukraine’, this outlet pointed out that Lira’s view of what is happening in Ukraine had changed over the days and was aligned with the “narrative” of the Russian Government; they even pointed out that he was possibly a “fictional character created by the Kremlin”.

In a video, Lira warned that he could be captured by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and that the main responsible for it would be that American media. “The Daily Beast who deliberately lied about me stating that I am not in Kharkiv. They admitted the fact that they are looking for me and that they want to locate me with every article they write,” he said.

He then explained that from that medium they contacted the Ukrainian government and informed him that he was in Kharkov. “So they realize my importance, so they can send some thugs from the Security Service to capture me,” he charged.

Journalist and film director Dan Cohen posted on Sunday that Lira was scheduled to interview him last Friday, to discuss “the kidnapping and murder” of Zelensky’s SBU dissidents. “Now I fear he has become his latest victim”wrote.
