A 2013 report by the National Transportation Safety Board reveals, compared to commercial airplanes whose safety record is superior to commercial ones, small private planes suffer five accidents on average per day, with nearly 500 lives lost annually.

So how big is the area where those 800 food distribution centers are located? Continental US land area is 3,119,884.69 square miles. If you figure these centers are half a square mile each, then just divide 400 into 3,119,884.69. Round that off to 7,800. So you have a one in 7,800 chance of hitting a food dist center every time a small plane crashes.

I used to be a pilot. Off the cuff, I made it 1 in 10,000. 7,800 is close enough for rock & roll.

My calculator died, I hate using my phone for math.

I about sagged out a C-152 into the FBO shack when I took too much flaps out after a go around at 07C years ago.
