It took Chip six weeks to get one of my trucks back on the road. It took the machine shop three weeks to resurface the heads, they're so busy. The new/used car market is so tight that everybody under the sun is repairing their cars rather than buying new.
#3 rear ended a big truck the other day in her nice 2006 Toyota Avalon with only 150,000 miles on it. I told the tow truck guy to tow it here. He said it was totaled.
No, it isn't totaled. Just needs front bumper, bumper cover, grille, hood and trim, hood latch and support assembly, both front fenders, both headlights and turn signals, radiator, AC condenser, fan assembly, air filter housing, and 14,000 various plastic fasteners.
It's my new project. Used cars are too expensive, so I'm fixing this one. I'm highly motivated, because she's driving my truck until I get her car fixed. And I've got a big trip planned in mid June.

Would you be interested in a 2001 V6 Mustang that has had every fluid changed well before spec, but just "a little" rust on frame? 89,992 original miles.
I am pissed off, spent $3,500 at Ford Dealer a couple years ago getting shit like power window motors, heater fan motor fixed and the fuckers didn't mention that the shock towers were rotting out. And they didn't even get the A/C working, i diagnosed that myself, and ordered a new PCU board. Ford dealer wanted to charge me $600 to replace (plus $400 for the $90 board I bought from AutoZone), I told them Fuck You and found some decent folk who did it for $75. Thank God they showed me the rot before I put any more money into this car. These are safety issues, the dealer was simply negligent in not giving me an honest appraisal.
20 hours? I'd just hook a chain to it and lift -- the motor mounts are probably so rusted out that they'd fail before the wheels even lifted off the ground.
StraitWoman's 2007 Ford Edge (bought used, of course) has held up pretty well, and she drives it hard. The rubber on the windshield gasket completely rotted out, leaving the metal strip flapping in the wind. So I cut it off. But the windshield doesn't leak; the sealant does the job even with no gasket. Here in South Carolina, with comprehensive insurance (which covers theft, vandalism, and road hazards such as rocks and deer, but not collisions with other vehicles or line poles, etc.) windshield replacement has zero deductible. So when the windshield gets busted I'll get a new gasket for free. (Well, free not counting the ungodly insurance premiums even without collision coverage.)
I don't want to trailer my Veyron all the way up there, so I guess I'll just run my 2002 4.8L Silverado daily driver. Well, weekly driver -- I stay home a lot these days since the world went totally insane.
DANGER - the TRUTH is going to be told. Eagledale Neighborhood Association will meet Thurs., May 5th at AMVETS. The truth about our neighborhoods is going to be exposed. We need your support AND you need ours. Come, let's meet. Starts at PM sharp. Amvets is at north end of Eagledale Plaza. Look for the flag poles, go to next door to right (marked as BAR).
I almost asked if there would be snacks, but I never fit in in redneck ass Indianapolis
