That clip of the Japanese elder falling down in the street brought to mind a situation I was in years ago after taking my mother to the bank for something during an ice storm. For the life of me, I don't remember what the "emergency" was that she "had" to get to the bank on black ice, but you didn't argue with Mom when she set her mind to something, she'd fret herself to death if she didn't get her way.
As I was backing out of the parking spot, I saw a man fall on the ice and didn't get up. I parked my truck to block traffic from running over him and rendered some aid. He was one of the merchants walking the bank bag to the bank. I got a moving blanket out of the truck to keep him warm while waiting on the ambulance and gave him some gloves. I called his store and somebody came down to get the bank bag.
When the ambulance got there it was a guy and some little chicky-poo. She wasn't strong enough to help get the guy, a big man, onto the stretcher or the stretcher into the ambulance, so I helped with that. I found out later that the guy was hurt really bad. Completely grenaded his knee and was in the hospital for a long time.
Today, I'd be getting sued.
The guy rescuing the dog from the train was really lucky. That was CLOSE.
The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these peoples door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. ~ H. L. Mencken
