National News See other National News Articles Title: DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is Lying Through His Teeth DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is Lying Through His Teeth Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is rightfully taking a lot of backlash from GOP officials and everyday Americans these days. The role of DHS is to enforce border security, uphold immigration laws, prevent terrorism, and otherwise work to preserve the safety of the United States. Under Mayorkas’ leadership, none of these metrics are even coming close to being fulfilled. The southern border is a complete mess and immigration laws are not being upheld by any stretch of the imagination. On top of this, Mayorkas is prepared to shut down Title 42 (the Trump-era immigration law that lets migrants be immediately expelled from the border) as soon as he’s legally able. Mayorkas doesn’t care that this will attract to the border at least an extra 18,000 migrants per day. However, the American people do care, thus explaining the DHS secretary’s recent clash with Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH), per Twitchy. Holding Mayorkas Accountable Thanks to the ineffective leadership of DHS, at least 42 illegal immigrants who are on no-fly lists or terrorist watchlists have reportedly entered America. During a congressional hearing, Jordan asked the DHS secretary about where these people are and how they’re being handled. Mayorkas’ response to this line of questioning made it clear that he has no clue about what’s happening at the border. The DHS secretary told Jordan that people on no-fly lists or terrorist watchlists “may be” held in detention facilities. Next, Jordan asked Mayorkas if any of these illegal immigrants have been released from the detention facilities they “may be” in. Unfortunately, Rep. Mary Scanlon (D-PA) cut in, saying that Jordan’s time had expired. Suffice it to say, Mayorkas did not give an answer about whether or not people on no-fly lists or terrorist watchlists have been set free in America. He couldn’t definitively say where they are or how Homeland Security plans to deal with them. Momentum For Impeaching Mayorkas As a result of what’s happening at the southern border, and the ineffectiveness of Mayorkas’ leadership, multiple GOP lawmakers have called for his impeachment. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who is slated to become House Speaker if Republicans win back the chamber, has also said impeachment isn’t off the table for the DHS secretary. Like many other Republicans who care about immigration laws and border security, McCarthy called upon Mayorkas to reconsider the current plan to end Title 42. At this point, only one of two scenarios are true: either the DHS secretary truly has no clue what he’s doing or he’s actively aiding in the destruction of the southern border. Either one would justify his impeachment and replacement with a DHS official who can get the border under control. Poster Comment: As POTUS, Joe Biden is responsible for securing the borders.
