Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

the rainbow bridge is also called the Bifrost bridge, and does exist in the astral.

many of the monroe inst. students report seeing it while learning how to travel out of body.

My 19 year old kitty died last year - well it will be a year this June 20th and this brought tears to my eyes. I still miss the little guy and I hope you're right about seeing him, and all my other kitties again some day. It wouldn't be heaven otherwise.

For those of you who know me - you know my furbabies are as close to me as my children. Today, we had to put our old guy out of his misery. There is much sadness in the household tonight, as he is not only missed by my spouse and kids, but his brothers and sisters as well.

Sleep well Blake - We will see you again.

I'm so sorry to hear this. What a painful thing it is to do. At least your little friend is no longer suffering and you'll see each other again some day.

He was our first adopted dog. Got him from The Ohio Boston Terrier Rescue Association. He was exactly 8 minutes from being *put down* at a pound as he had overstayed the amount of time normally alloted for strays.

No one knows for sure how old he was - the vet guessed between 13-16 years old. But age wasn't an issue when we met him. He was the perfect gentleman and even tho I have 4 other dogs - he was the best behaved animal I have ever owned.

Ah, geeze, Cappy, how very sad. I'm so sorry for all of you. I know well the hurt you're enduring. For a while, it seemed like I was going to have to memorize The Rainbow Bridge.

It's never easy, lady.....but you know when you've done the right thing...and if he was in misery, you knew.

I love cats, but I'd have to pass on the Sphynx - I can't imagine what it would be like petting them, it just seems creepy. Like petting your purse.

Great post.

My sympathies on the passing of your furry friend.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "If dogs, aren't allowed in Heaven, then I don't wanna go there."

Mrs.L and I have more friends than I care to count, waiting on us to cross over the Rainbow Bridge, whenever it's our time.

Patience, critters, we're getting there as quickly as we can.

I was just telling Zip that when I finally cross the rainbow bridge myself, I will be re-killed in the impending stampede of critters. Or at least drown in sloppy kisses.

Whoa!

I'd not thought about that outcome...but, what a way to go.

Thanks, cheers.
