Up to 20 million acres of American farmland may be tainted after being contaminated by polyfluoroalkyl substances, a new study had revealed.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are present in sewage sludge used as fertilizer.
PFAS are a set of human-developed chemical substances used for a variety of consumer and industrial applications and are used to make water-resistant and heat-resistant products.
The FDA warns that these substances do not decompose quickly and are present in the soil, water, air, and the bodies of humans and animals.
These substances contaminate foodstuffs, and accumulations of these in significant concentrations in our bodies will be detrimental to our health, the FDA says.

This sludge passed off as fertilizer was done by local governments, not by greedy corporations. I also suspect rain water as being contaminated.
